Where is worship found in the bible

Our worship should be pure, no other reasons but to respond to The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; wholeheartedly, with unleashed adoration, gratefulness, reverent honor with thanksgiving. If you seek him, you will find him. You can never have too much of him or his presence; so continue to go deeper for there is no end in God.

I find it very interesting that the soldiers bowed down mockingly to Jesus. Music is very spiritual and plays a huge role in either improving or impeding our relationship with God.

Satan definitely uses music to distract and distance us from God.. I kinda like Lennys comments about the band being placed in a different location facing the stage. This would hopefully help the people focus more on God during the music worship time. Maybe not intentionally, but it happens. Dangerous place to be! Keep the focus where it should be. On God. Thanks, Lenny. Thanks for your insight!

Tim: I think it is time to give the stage back to God and put the worship band down in front facing the stage, or over to the side, facing the stage. The band and worship leaders would be better-off out of the limelight, and the people would be able to better focus on God as they sing.

Watching a band worship is like watching a tennis match. It might be great, but it is not actually playing tennis. Who would dare to even discuss this, let alone try it? Thanks for sharing. Worship is a lifestyle.. Even small things such as, helping an old man crossing the road, try your best to be a student, honor your father and mother, and of course, praying.

Put simply, worship is declaring the greatness of someone or something. To put it even more succinctly, worship is bowing down to lift up. Was it Right for God to Create Man? I find that I start to drift off to sleep more often than not if I kneel or try to lie prostrate. Is there anything wrong with standing and pacing? Thank you Mr. This makes perfect sense to me. I see why you would do that. My apologies sir. Thank you so much Deno for your very kind words.

May God richly bless you for your encouragement. Mr Wellman, Thank you for this beautiful article on worship. I have just noticed that one reference is not exactly correct. It should be 1 kings 8 v instead of 1 kings Grace and peace to you in Christ our Lord. Camille Germany. Thank you so kindly Camille. Christianity receives its roots from the Jewish community. Jesus Himself was a Jew, therefore, our worship is greatly impacted by the example that was portrayed in the Nation of Israel.

Christian worship has many expressions. Some are cultural and varied across the globe. Some Christian worship elements that we see today are Biblical. Others have been developed by man. We must look at the overall work of God within the world before and during Christianity. We must first understand worship from the most basic level: creation and the fall. Additionally, we recognize how God has worked throughout the Old Testament to bring back what sin and evil have taken.

God re-establishes worship and His covenant to hundreds of generations. The basis of Christian worship began long before there was Christianity. Christianity receives its roots from the Jewish background. However, before the Israelite nation existed, there was worship. Worship dates all the way back to the creation of the earth, the creatures within it, and the humans who were given dominion of it. Humans were not created primarily for the act of worship.

We are not puppets or pawns that God forces worship upon in order to enlarge His ego. Adam and Eve were not given the command to worship in song, dance, or good works. They were not told to bow before the Lord in reverence, fear, or trembling. We see in Genesis what God did command them. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.

Adam and Eve worshiped God by being obedient to their call to rule and be fruitful. Additionally, every day that they chose not to eat of the forbidden fruit, they were worshiping God. Their worship looked much different than we may expect to see worship today.

Adam and Eve had direct communion with God, something we have not experienced. There was complete unity within their relationship. There was no shame, no distance, no rebellion, and no wrath.

In perfect love and unity, Adam and Eve worshiped God by following the design that He intended. Their worship was simply remaining in line with the purposes, goodwill, love, goodness, and order of God. In short, the fall was when sin and death entered the world because Adam and Eve chose to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of the tree of life. After this, we see that perfect unity and natural worship were destroyed. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Instead of desiring to be close to God and function in His manner, Adam and Eve hid. They had done things contrary to God and now they had opened their eyes to good and evil. Sin had tainted their hearts, minds, earth, bodies, relationships, and entire lives. Now, there was effort involved in doing the right thing and worshiping God, when before, worship was joyful and innate. This struggle was described by the apostle Paul in Romans For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So worship is to bow down or lay our face before God. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. To worship in spirit is to be led by the living God and to know the joy that comes from fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is like a refreshing drink of water, a cool breeze, the warmth of a fire. He can also be a torrent, a hurricane, and a wildfire.

Our experience of worship can be alive when we worship in spirit. True worship must first be in spirit — led by the Spirit and involves our spirit, the in-most part of our being. We cannot worship however we want and do whatever we feel like.

To worship is to bow before God and to delightfully follow His orders. We get to do what God says and not follow after the sin that used to enslave us. The tendency of worship in spirit without the Word is lawlessness. The tendency of worship in truth without the Spirit is legalism. We might be doing the right things, but if our hearts are not encountering the living God, then we miss the most important thing. Truth is a person and His name is Jesus John Jesus is building a church that worships in both spirit and in truth.

Jesus is building a church that is neither motivated by legalism nor lawlessness. To truly worship in spirit and in truth is to love God and to keep His commandments John This can only happen when people truly know Jesus, who He is and what He has done. This draws love from the very core of our being. Jesus is worthy of our worship. It is possible to have intimacy with God and still not truly worship Him. In contemporary worship, sometimes we can talk as if worship is almost synonymous with music.

Worship is much more than music or an event like a worship service. Music is a gift from God and has been associated with Christian worship since the beginning. Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs are part of being filled with the Holy Spirit Eph.

Music is around the very throne of God Rev. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

When we are filled with the Spirit, we will sing and make melody with our hearts. But the rest of the sentence is also true. This is actually one long sentence in the original Greek! If we are filled with the Spirit, there will be a constant spirit of thanksgiving and an attitude of submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. Music is powerful and valuable as long as it fosters true worship, a heart that follows and obeys Jesus.

Perhaps only God can answer that question for us, but we can examine ourselves to see if our thoughts, feelings, and traditions whether traditional or contemporary line up with Scripture. This would not be worship according to the Bible. The call to worship is not a rally to come and watch a performance. Worship can only be measured by the fruit of a transformed life. My heart was convicted, I humbled myself, and I committed to obeying Jesus.

I will forgive people who wronged me. I asked Holy Spirit to empower my heart to follow through with it. Music is a beautiful gift from God and can be a powerful expression of true worship. Biblical worship is accessible to every follower of Jesus, in any country, at any time in history.
