How does susan sarandon stay in shape

Currently single, Susan is clearly taking her own advice and not relying on a man to define herself. How does she balance it all, I wonder? Her father was a nightclub singer with English and Welsh roots; her mother is of Italian ancestry, which may explain where her brio comes from.

None of her relatives were actors, but she accompanied her university sweetheart Chris Sarandon — who has had a long career on Broadway and in TV and film he appeared in The Princess Bride — into the industry, and went on to marry him. Susan kept Sarandon as her stage name after they divorced in I was so lucky to work with Geena Davis.

She is smart and funny,' says Susan. Eva — whose father is Italian director Franco Amurri — has given her a much-adored granddaughter, Marlowe, who will turn two in August. Eva received an outpouring of support for breaking a taboo when she revealed on her blog that she had suffered a miscarriage last August and discussed the pain she experienced.

Susan is visibly proud that her daughter has inherited her fearlessness when it comes to getting to the nub of things. And Eva has much better systems in place than I ever did. You just do what you can and maybe the forms for school are not in on time or your refrigerator is not defrosted. So what? Susan, who suffers from endometriosis, had been told she was unable to have children, so the arrival of three in what — certainly back then — were considered the twilight years of fertility seemed nothing short of a miracle.

I never intended to be an actress. We all know it can be difficult to take the best care of ourselves when we live busy and hectic lives. But Susan believes that how she treats her body and what she puts into is is as important as what she puts on it. While she has never claimed to have an overnight miracle for her skincare, she attributes being religious about her moisturizing cream to aging gracefully and looking fabulous doing it!

Not only does it moisturize but it is chalk full of anti-aging peptides to produce even better results for your skin. From wrinkles to dark spots and pigmentation issues, there is no end to the amount of damage the sun can cause your face.

There are so many people worldwide who credit sun protection to their youthful looks and Susan is no exception! What is in your day-to-day make-up bag? What are your favourite haircare products? What do you do to keep in shape? I also have a bicycle that I take on the bike lane on the West Side Highway, and when I can I go to the gym and do some kind of weight training.

I recently fractured my ankle hiking in Colombia though so I haven't done much of anything recently. I'd like to get into yoga more, but I'm the worst at it; some more stretching or breathing exercises in my routine would be good.

What's your approach to wellbeing? You're very lucky to age. I think it means staying healthy. I think there's something about not giving up and becoming invisible, which is what our society has a tendency to do. I hear women [of a certain age] talking about becoming invisible.

My interpretation of anti-aging means anti-becoming invisible. I'm very simple in terms of maintenance, I'm not somebody who does a lot of different things, but what I don't do is smoke cigarettes and I think if you're young and you're smoking in your 20s, in 20 years, your skin is going to show it.

Or if you're drinking too heavily! I think paying attention to a lifestyle is really important. And a certain kind of generosity of spirit. When did that start? In fashion shows, everyone has to look so pissed off. I remember Todd Oldham shows used to be fun! I was somewhere where the models were standing around and everyone was going around them and I said, 'Why don't you let them have their cell phones, so at least they're doing something.

That's the kind of thing you shouldn't be selling — this idea that if you're so gorgeous and too skinny and wearing fabulous everything, you're pissed off. Why do you have to be so angry? I don't understand. You've talked before about the importance of social impact around beauty and we've seen beauty ideals slowing begin to shift.
